With all the back to school deals and Labor Day sales, we thought we’d interrupt the daily stream of advertisements with a calming and reassuring thought:
There are deals to be had and steals to be found at every time of the year.
Lest you feel pressured into buying something purely because it is a percentage less expensive, we are here to happily remind that there is no rush, and no pressure. There will be markdowns and clearance sections and sales throughout the year, and especially heading into the end of the year. And no, your son does not need the brand new box of crayons the very first day of class.
So you can sit back, relax, enjoy getting the few necessities your daughter needs for her class, and the new pair of pants for your son who somehow grew five inches over the summer, and take your time while you do it. And then head to the store during the glorious school hours to get what you need.
We have also made the rounds of pre-school shopping a time or two here at Le Chic, and have a few pro tips we’ve learned.
Shop Like A Pro:
- Set a limit before you go. Whether or not you stick to a budget is up to you, but we know everyone enjoys a shopping adventure that was a success. One easy way to make a success is to set a limit of how much you’d be willing to spend, and then- here’s the hard part- stick to it. By telling yourself (and your kids) ahead of the trip how much you plan on spending total, you set a clear expectation that will be easier to hold to once inside the store.
- Beeline for the back. Before weaving through each aisle to check off your list, head straight for the back sections of the store where the clearance and marked-down sections are. You never know how much of your list you’ll be able to check off, and even better done at a discount!
- Use your resources. Use your phone to check the price at the store compared to the price on Amazon or Walmart, and make sure you are getting the best bang for your buck.
- Relax. After you’ve been able to check off your list, do take some time to wind down! Enjoy shopping for yourself now that the rush is over!
